How to fix a squeaky cabinet

Have you ever tried to sneak down into the kitchen in the middle of the night for some snacks only to be busted by squeaky cabinets? Well, you're not the only one. For many different reasons, cupboards can become noisy over time. Luckily, there are some quick and easy ways to fix these problems. Here is your guide on cabinet care for noisy hinges:

Lubricating oil
Head out to your local hardware store to pick up some lubricating oil (it comes in spray form to make the job even easier). If you're not sure what kind to get, ask an employee, and he or she can help you choose the best for your home. The aerosol comes with a thin, straw-like nozzle so that you can squeeze oil into those hard-to-reach hinges. Just apply the nozzle to the hinge, spray the solution and that should do the trick! In fact, most solutions not only fix the problem but repel moisture as well, preventing the issue from happening again in the future.

Things found in your home
You might not even have to leave your house to fix this issue. For example, rubbing a little petroleum jelly on the hinge can fix it, and the same goes for cooking spray! Just be sure not to apply too much, otherwise you'll have a hinge that's dripping liquid.

Sometimes a simple solution doesn't cut it, and if this is the case, you may have to remove the hinge. Then, use a wire wool to rub down all sides. This removes any dirt or rust that has built up over time, which could be causing the sound. If that still doesn't do it, you can try rubbing the surface of the hinge down with a plain bar of soap.

Put the hinge back on, and the problem should be fixed!
