Three reasons why kitchens need good lighting

There are certain things all kitchens need - a stove, range, fridge, freezer, excellent custom cabinets, a set of sharp knives and a host of other items. What most homeowners might not rank high enough on that list, however, is light.

It's true - light might just be one of the most important parts of your kitchen. Whether it's all-natural and being delivered through giant windows or thanks to some quality fixtures and good kitchen design, light is essential. Consider these three reasons why.

1. Detail-oriented work
Everything you do in the kitchen is detail oriented. From making sure you've cleaned up every scrap of spilled food (avoid ants!) to the chopping and mixing of cooking preparation, you need to be sure that you see everything clearly.

2. Good food
While scent and taste obviously play huge roles in how we appreciate our meals, visual stimulation is also a big part of enjoying food. Make sure you can see each bright red apple, vibrantly purple onion and shiny green pepper.

3. Decor
Just like any other room in your home, you've put a lot of work into your kitchen design and decor. Appreciate it fully by assuring your space is well lit!
